Sessions:

  • 9am – Helping Counselees Understand How to Change”

Helping people change is what biblical counseling is all about.  But how does lasting change occur?  This workshop, ideal for beginning biblical counselors but also a refresher for veterans, seeks to provide a biblical theology of change and addresses the following main points:  1)  The need for change  2) Some faulty views about how we change  3) The process of change (Eph 4:17-5:21)  4)  The environment for lasting change: the local church  5) The purpose of change.

  • 10am – “How NOT to Counsel: Learning from Job’s Friends”

In Job 42:7 God Himself said that Job’s friends glaringly missed the mark in their counsel to Job.  Now there’s a relevant and sobering warning for those of us who minister truth to hurting people!  This workshop explores the message of the book of Job to see where Job’s friends went wrong, and then provides appropriate cautions for us as biblical counselors, especially in counseling those in crisis.

  • 11am – “Helping Couples Through Marital Problems Case Study”

This session will also be coupled with a Question and Answer session.
