2015 Family Conference

The Southern Ohio Pastors Coalition is happy to announce the 2015 Family Conference, entitled The Family as Foundation for Christian Living. This year’s event will focus on helping families understand and apply the biblical principles of godly, Christ-centered living within the family.

[5] You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. [6] And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. [7] You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. (Deuteronomy 6:5-7 ESV)

Date:  April 18, 2015

Location:  First Baptist Church, Waverly, Ohio

Cost:  The 2015 Family Conference is totally FREE! While the event is free, we ask that all participants fill out the form at the bottom of the page in order to provide an accurate estimate for dinner.

Time:  Doors will open at 2:00 p.m. Participants can sign in at any time thereafter. See below for a more detailed schedule of events.

Format:  The teaching format will include a opening general session, two breakout sessions, dinner, and a closing general session. See below for a more detailed schedule of events.

Ages:  This event is specifically intended for the whole family, parents and children.

Schedule

  • 2:00pm – Registration opens
  • 3:00pm – Welcome and opening prayer
  • 3:10pm – Worship music with the Grace Community Church worship band
  • 3:25pm – Plenary Session 1 – Biblical Foundations of the Family
  • 4:00pm – Breakout Session 1
  • 4:50pm – Breakout Session 2
  • 5:45pm – Dinner
  • 6:30pm – Plenary Session 2 – The Faithful Family
  • 7:00pm – Panel Discussion with Q&A

Breakout Topics (participants will choose one topic during each breakout session): 

  • Biblical Counseling and Discipleship in the Family
  • Spiritual Disciplines in the Family
  • Preparing the Family for Cultural Engagement
  • Making Corporate Worship Practical
  • Utilizing Resources in Family Discipleship

Dinner

  • Dinner will be provided for all participants.
  • Families will also be able to talk to various organizations and ministries from the region during this time.

About the Speakers

Jason Boothe is the pastor at Horizons Baptist Church in Piketon, Ohio.

Aaron Hedges is the pastor of student ministries at Temple Baptist Church in Portsmouth, Ohio.

Drew Karst is an elder at Grace Community Church in Waverly, Ohio and oversees the church’s marriage and family ministry.

David Kelly is the pastor at First Baptist Church in Wellston, Ohio.

Matt Kysor is the associate pastor at Centerpoint Church in Chillicothe, Ohio.

Kathy Ross teaches at Pike Christian Academy in Waverly, Ohio.

Brian Sponseller is the pastor at the Waverly Campus of Circleville Church of the Nazarene.

Jay Wise is an ordained pastor in the Wesleyan Church and attends First Wesleyan Church in Chillicothe, Ohio.

Matthew Wright is an elder at Grace Community Church in Waverly, Ohio and oversees the church’s student ministries. He is also the store manager at Praises Family Books & Gifts in Chillicothe, Ohio.
